Your idea, interpreted in glass

Personal by design.

Paul turns memories, images, objects and ideas into individual works of stained glass—each created for a particular person and place.

You do not need to arrive with a finished design. Paul helps develop the composition, colours, glass and framing before making every section by hand in his Sarnia studio.

A personal commission

From a family tattoo to a gift in glass.

A husband contacted Paul through Facebook with a photograph of his wife’s tattoo. Each flower represented a member of their family. Paul redrew the composition for a specific window, developed the colours with the client and translated the story into stained glass.

Made for someone particular

A symbol with personal meaning.

Brenda commissioned Paul to create a stained-glass panel inspired by the autism symbol for her son, who has autism.

It is another example of how a familiar image can become something individual: redesigned in glass, made by hand and connected to the person who will receive it.

How a commission works

From an idea to the light.

01

Share the idea

Tell Paul about the subject, setting, approximate size and what you want the piece to mean.

02

Develop the design

Paul shapes the composition and discusses colour, glass choices, practical requirements and budget.

03

Make the piece

Individual sections are cut, assembled and finished by hand, with progress shared along the way.

04

Ready for its place

The finished work is prepared for collection, suitable delivery or agreed installation arrangements.

Inside or outside

Made for the place it will live.

Glass changes with its setting, the daylight and the view around it. Paul can create a single hanging panel, transform an existing object or develop a larger installation around a window, screen, shelter or garden structure.

The garden as a testing ground

Light, glass, mirrors, plants and handmade structures show how art can become part of an outdoor environment.

Ideas adapted to each client

How pricing works

Complexity matters more than size.

A smaller intricate panel can take three times longer than a large simple design. The final quote reflects the design, glass selected, intricacy, framing and installation requirements.

Recent examples range from a CAN$300 upcycled mirror treatment and a CAN$400 memorial piece to CAN$985–$1,200 feature panels and multi-panel installations of CAN$4,000–$9,000. A CAN$200 deposit begins an agreed commission.

Student work

Different ideas. Individual results.

Work created by Paul’s students—Jan, Keet, Ian and Dwayne—while developing their own designs and stained-glass skills.

“I was initially quite nervous about working with stained glass, especially cutting it myself. Paul made the experience enjoyable and stress-free. He was patient, reassuring and took the time to ensure I felt comfortable.”

Student testimonial

“From designing the piece to cutting, grinding, foiling and finally soldering everything together, it was an incredible journey. Paul guided me through each step with expertise and made the process educational and rewarding.”

Meet the maker

Twenty years of making in Canada.

Paul has designed and made stained glass, jewellery and decorative objects since moving to Canada in 2005. His work has grown through markets, commissions and teaching many students, always with the same hands-on curiosity.

Today, Paul is focusing on two complementary things: bespoke stained glass built around the client, story and setting, and personal tuition for people who want to learn by making.
